Ysgol y Strade and Ysgol Bro Myrddin pupils – Sports commentators in the making
Principality Building Society has been helping to develop the skills of Wales’ next sports commentators in the making, with a little help from former Ospreys Head Coach and broadcaster Sean Holley.
They held a three day event at the Principality stadium. During the three day workshop pupils from Ysgol Y Strade and Ysgol Bro Myrddin were tasked with developing their literacy, numeracy and digital skills through an innovative programme called iBroadcasting.
They were tasked with creating a panel show around the Wales v Scotland rugby match.
Pupils were given master classes in interview skills, both as an interviewee and as an interviewer, video editing and analysis, commentary skills and public speaking.
These master classes were delivered by Sean Holley (BBC Scrum V amongst others) from a broadcasting standpoint and Aspire2Be (Education Technology Business) from a technical standpoint.
Daniel Hughes from Ysgol Y Strade said: The development the pupils made over the three days was excellent, and they are now our Digital Pioneers, creating a legacy and continuing to develop their acquired skills. It was a great three days, which pupils thoroughly enjoyed their learning.
