More Able and Talented Project

An exciting partnership between ERW, NACE and twelve schools from across the region officially started this week with its first meeting.

The project is firmly founded in the principles of school to school improvement and will focus on key areas as identified by the schools.

Initial discussions covered a whole range of areas including: aspects of pedagogy, feedback and developing growth mind-sets alongside perseverance and ‘grit’. The issues surrounding progression across key stages and how this linked to transition was a strong element that was also identified as an area for innovation.

All of these discussions were framed by the principles of ‘Successful Futures’ and how this should influence our vision for learning as the project progresses.

The group also explored strategies to support professional learning within and across schools so that the leadership capacity of the group to take the work further would be enhanced.

The schools involved in this partnership are:  Tycroes Primary School, St Therese RC Primary School, Ysgol Strade, Sir Thomas Picton School, Ysgol Aberaeron, Llangyfelach Primary School, Coedcae School, Ysgol Ger Y Llan, Cymer Afan Federation of Schools, Ysgol Maesydderwen, Llanidloes High School, Bishop Gore School.
